Larry Halvorsen:
Form, Surface and Pattern

Artist's Preview reception:  Wednesday,October 1, 6-8pm
First Thursday Opening: October 2, 6-8pm

Gallery Hours, Wednesday - Saturday, 12-5pm

Larry Halvorsen’s sculptural objects and vessels strongly suggest natural form, while line and pattern carved into the surface, clearly influenced by indigenous peoples, expose the raw natural clay beneath.

Family car trips to the Southwest inspired Halvorsen’s life long interest in indigenous arts.  A Peace Corps tour in Central America working in a ceramic cooperative in a historic pottery village and trips to Mayan sites in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador contributed to his fascination about stone tools, ritual objects, architecture and forms found in nature.
